Cole would always look at hands and wonder what story they would tell. These particular hands belonged to an elderly man who, when Cole asked how old he was, said “I was 87 ten years ago… or was that 15 years ago?” This picture haunted Cole, as he felt it spoke of a life of hardships we couldn’t begin to understand.
